There are already 13.7-million working in renewable energy worldwide. The move towards renewable energy will increasingly cause changes in employment across the world.

Many countries have ambitious plans towards Net-Zero in the near future which will cause areas of skill demand that is likely to substantially outstrip the supply of suitable competent people.

This section outlines the challenges in skills shortages and the opportunities for a transitional global workforce as an increasing number of young people and those transitioning from fossil fuel orientated jobs, need to be attracted to the renewable energy sector if there are to be sufficient skills to achieve the world’s Net-Zero targets.

The section highlights some of the key skills and roles that will emerge as the journey to Net-Zero continues.

This module will give you a good appreciation of where there are likely to be specific skills needs and what can be done to address them. It explains the importance of a fully trained and competent workforce across the sector and the need for continuous training and development as the technology, materials, tools and techniques change in this quickly evolving sector.
